This is crap

I am not going to blog about weight loss.  Trying to lose weight sucks so why would I spend time lamenting about it?

I did learn to make cake balls - wonderful, delicious cake balls.  I have requests for them all the time.  They look professionally done - absolutely beautiful.  I do cake pops, too, in various styles and shapes... santas, christmas trees, pirates, etc.  really cute, too.

so basically, my life is exactly the same as two years ago.... except everyone is two years older.  sigh.  life goes by far too fast.

January 1, 2012 - Day 1

Here I am again, trying to lose weight. Right now, this morning, I weighed in at 150. Can't exercise yet - due to my back injury - and I feel like a fat sluggish pudgy pie.

So I am changing the baking blog to a weight loss blog. Starting today - right here, right now.
I am giving myself one year, 365 days, to lose 50 lbs, and get down to where I should be.

Starting today. I weighed in, and I am going to use Fitbit again, and Weight Watchers.
And I am vowing not to cheat - to stick this out - to be healthier and happier.

I need to become disciplined; something I was never very good at. But I do not have any choice... I need to do this.

Cookie Baking Season is Here!

I love to bake. I love to cook. I love to bake cookies the best... So it is with great anticipation that I head into what I consider "baking season".... the holidays beginning with Halloween and ending with New Years Day. Yippee! Here we go....

So I will tell you about my first experiment. I decided I would tackle cake pops. For my son's Holiday Program tonight, I asked him what he wanted me to make and he told me "Basketball Cakes". Ok. No problem.

HAH.

The cake balls turned out great.... used Devil's Food cake and Hershey Fudge icing. Yum.
So, I put them in the fridge for 30 minutes then melted the candy-thingies to make the vanilla-flavored icing.... tinted orange of course.

Ok, I have never used this stuff before. And there is a learning curve. A BIG learning curve. My icing melted fine (in the microwave) but then it started getting hard and the more I heated it the harder it got and then..... OH MY GOSH. This CAN'T be right. And it wasn't.

What it was is a disaster. Very yuck. But I still have chocolate cake balls left and this time I am going to dip them in chocolate and sprinkle those edible candy-things on top. But for now I have to pop my Rotini pasta bake in the oven and get ready for the Holiday program my youngest is in. We'll retry the cake balls tomorrow.... if I don't eat them all tonight.
